Never use methadone tablets or liquid to make a mixture for injecting the drug into your vein. This practice has resulted in death with the misuse of prescription drugs. When methadone is used as part of a treatment program for drug addiction or detoxification, your doctor may recommend that methadone be given to you by a family member or other caregiver. You should not stop using methadone suddenly. Follow your doctor's instructions about tapering your dose.
